Australia currently has no organised population-based screening program for lung cancer due to uncertainty of target population, screening intervals and cost-effectiveness that require further consideration. However there is some evidence to support annual screening for people at high risk using low-dose computed tomography.
Research trials are currently underway to further investigate this evidence and key findings will be of importance to GPs who may be faced with questions from their patients on their suitability for screening.
This free education webinar will provide an update on the current recommendations and guidelines for lung cancer screening and an insight into the findings from lung cancer screening trials.
Presented by:
Dr Annette McWilliams
Head of Respiratory Medicine, Fiona Stanley Hospital
This education activity will be accredited as part of the RACGP QI&CPD Program. Activity number: 140455
